結核菌が幹細胞に入り込む

骨組織の奥深くに存在する幹細胞に結核菌が入り込むという発見。結核が完治したと見えて、実は何年も潜伏することがあるのはこれが原因と考えられる。共生細菌ボルバキアが昆虫の幹細胞に入り込むことを世界で初めて発見したFrydmanさんがこの発見についてコメントしている。
